| Buais Village (Local Area) |
|
 |
| |
Buais village is small, but boasts one of the best restaurants in Normandy - La Rotisserie Nomande; in fact it's mentioned in good food guides for this region. Like all communities throughout France we have an excellent boulangerie. There is a village shop where you can buy almost anything from a candle to prepared gourmet meals and of course, not forgetting the village bar.
Your stay with us may coincide with one of our many community functions held throughout the year, which are, without exception, very well supported; we always make a point of attending - if you would like to go, we would be more than happy for you to tag along with us. But be warned, these functions are not designed for these who like an early night; whatever the reason the event is in aid of, I can promise you it will involve food, and a lot of alcohol. |

| This unique fortified mediaeval town appears to rise out of the bay at high tide. The abbey at Mont st Michel was founded over one thousand years ago by Benedictine monks and become a major destination for pilgrims. It has also been used as a prison and is now a World Heritage Site. For visitors to Normandy for the first time, this is a must. Nearby there is a very good reptilarium. |

| St Hiliaire is a sizeable town with large market every Wednesday throughout the year, where you can buy almost anything from an apple to a cow - very difficult to get in the car boot. There are numerous places to eat and drink, a swimming pool and cinema (in French of course). |

| The old part of St Malo town was once a fortress and has still retained many of its old features including the fortress walls, which you can walk on, giving an unusual view of the town. We would suggest that you set aside a whole day for this visit - this will give you time to mooch around the many stylish shops and perhaps to stop off for a glass of something at one of the numerous cafés and take part in the very French pastime of watching the world go by. There are also many superb restaurants to choose from. If you leave without trying a restaurant, we would strongly recommend that you take a short detour to the small and picturesque fishing village of Cancale where you can force yourself to try some of the best seafood in France. |
